26th January 1950 the first Republic day of India,
On this day was formulated the constitution of India ,
In our country with the worlds largest democracy ,
Our constitution had no place for bureaucracy ,
Neither was there any mention of autocracy .
Over the years we struggled to achieve our goals ,
But as time went by the public lost its controls,
Because many a politicians and bureaucrats had sold their souls .
Our tricolor flag gives us great messages to encourage ,
Saffron a holy color, symbol of sacrifice and courage .
White a color depicting truth, peace and purity ,
Green the color of our plants on the farms ,the nations prosperity ,
The blue Ashoka chakra in the middle with its 24 spokes in clarity ,
Is the wheel of the law of dharma for our benefits and solidarity,
Reminding us that truth and virtue are to be practiced in all sincerity ,
How we all wish that we follow these teachings in utmost regularity .
But it is indeed a sad scene that we see on the move ,
The saffron renunciation ,majority don't approve ,
Violence has replaced peace ,though most of us disapprove,
The green farmers plight is continuously being charred,
They are striving very hard ,still most of them are scarred ,
Corruption has become the national symbol of the day,
Truth ,sincerity and good virtues have been given a holiday ,
Life is cheap, values are lost, greed and lust are rampant everyday ,
The common man is fighting continuously to avoid his doomsday .
Who can save us form this hell created in our very own holy land?
Arise oh sleeping citizens from your slumber and give forth your hand ,
Let us all unite and destroy these demons of greed ,violence and lust,
To live a life free of fear and full of freedom this task is a must.
To prosper as a nation we cannot sacrifice our virtues and morality ,
We all need to pledge to stay away from such vices in all practicality,
And to have enough courage to expose such demons to keep up our glorious nationality.

Dear Madam Chaturvedi: Thanks for the post. These are very timely sentiments. The whole system is infested with rampant corruption, inept governance, self-serving political leaderships and seemingly hapless middle class full of cynicism. The Republic which was gifted to us more than 6 decades ago has become a populist democracy rather than a constitutional democracy. Thus, demagogues prevail, and pressure groups and even fringe elements seem to take the mainstream into custody! As has been well said: "Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers alone. The people themselves, therefore are its only safe depositories.”- Thomas Jefferson. Thus, let us hope the public of the country rises up to make India a stronger re-PUBLIC.
ReplyDeleteThank you ,Munish for the appreciation . Your comments are very relevant .yes it is we the public who need to change ourselves and the systems prevailing as of now
