They met in the corridor of the hospital while on their way to attend the same interview .He was staring at her ,She felt a bit awkward and tried her level best to avoid looking at him,but it was difficult. He was tall and handsome definitely needing another look. She couldn't controll giving secretive side glances. they walked away their ways after the interview.
After a few days she reached her new department with full enthusiasm in her best work attire and became busy understanding and doing new things assigned to her,She was so engrossed in putting an IV line as it was her first attempt atveinipuncture in such a small child and she was nervous and hesitant for a moment. She suddenly heard a heavy voice coming from the back " that's ok go on" . She assumed it was her senior encouraging her on her maiden venture , she didn't look back but on the contrary tried to concentrate more on doing the procedure. She was successful at the first prick in puncturing the vein.The nurse helping her remarked "very good doctor " . After securing the line , drawing blood samples and starting the IV fluids she turned around and was pleasantly surprised to see him standing behind her with a charming smile and a thumbs up sign. She couldn't help but smile back at him . She felt happy at her performance and elated to see him again . He gave her an endearing look and walked away.
The whole day she went about her work with all sincerity . The case notes had to be completed for the next days teaching rounds before retiring for the day. She was very tired working the whole day .She took all the case papers to the house officers room and was absorbed in checking and completing the papers . Suddenly She sensed somebody enter the room , on looking up she saw him standing beside her .She felt a flutter in her heart !!!! He said " care for a chocolate? " extending a cadburys dairy milk chocolate bar towards her .For a moment She did not know what to say then blurted " no thanks" . He pulled a chair beside her and said " can i help you finish the case notes" . she again said " no thanks" . Despite her refusal he unwrapped the choclate bar and extended it towards her and said " now come on you need some energy " she just couldn't refuse ,took a piece of chocolate and said " thanks".
By the time she completed her work it was late night and dark outside . She had to walk back to the hostel a good 10 minutes walk . The street lights were meagre and the roads empty . It was a cold winter night and She was tired and hungry. All her colleagues had left earlier . She came out from the main hospital gate and started walking towards the hostel. Suddenly She heard footsteps approaching from behind. She was scared and started walking very briskly but could not keep up her pace with the oncoming footsteps following her and they fell inline with her footsteps . With fear inside she glanced sideways and was surprised to see him walking beside her . He said "mind if I walk with you to your hostel ? " She said " it's ok " . In fact She felt happy in his company not because she was scared to cover the distance alone but because she felt a sense of pleasure within having him by her side . They reached the hostel gate in no time . He wished her goodnight and so did she . That night she kept on thinking about him with feelings of joy inside her heart . .
