STRANGERS

As strangers  ,we met alone  on a dark summer night,

The streets were empty ,it was  raining all the while ,
I remember till today ,you sighed  on seeing me alight ,
Your charm compelled me to give you a winsome smile .
Holding my hand ,you escorted me to the roadside cafe ,
I felt awkward and very shy ,wanting to go away ,
Sensing my fear you said you wanted me to stay ,
I felt numbed and  just didn't know what to say .

Looking at me, "care to have some coffee ", you said,
With great difficulty I looked down and  nodded my head  ,
Staring at each other in silence we sipped it  slowly ,
The warmth of your company , made me feel very cozy ,
Time flew by very fast ,now we had to part ,
Why was I feeling  a seething pain in my heart ?

Footnote :-
This is a Petrarchan sonnet form of two fused quatrains and two fused tercets composed in a rhyme scheme.
The interesting part is that each  line is composed of 10 syllables .
